Description

KDM Constructors is a Saskatchewan-based general contracting, project management, and skilled trades service provider. KDM Constructors is majority-owned by Kawacatoose First Nation, Day Star First Nation, and Muskowekwan First Nation. Position

Reporting to the General Manager, KDM Constructors L.P., you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of site services management and execution.  As a promoter of a healthy and positive work environment, you will oversee all daily activities related to site services and related projects from inception through to close out. 

This position will be 5 days on, 2 days off rotation, 10 hours per day. This schedule may be subject to change based on the needs of the client. 

This position will be located at BHP Mine Site – Jansen, SK.  This is a camp-based position.  Jansen Discovery Lodge at BHP is a state-of-the-art camp that includes the following: full-service cafeteria, housekeeping, gym with a raised running track, library, and theatre.

Job Duties

  • Promote a healthy and positive safe working environment for the project by showing effective leadership and participation in safety related matters 
  • Work with Director of Project Delivery for turnover from estimating to the project team
  • Identify project goals, needs and scope
  • Organize project team and manage workloads
  • Direct initiating activities. I.E., procurement, contracts, etc.
  • Work with project teams on effective planning and strategizing to execute projects
  • Provide client reporting including schedule, cost and safety
  • Change management reporting (schedule & cost)
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, from property managers to subcontractors
  • Drive the objectives of project teams and subcontractors on-site
  • Maintain and liaise with clients, building professional relationships
  • Attend and participate in daily/weekly/monthly meetings as required by the client or head office 
  • Execute projects scopes safely, on time, to quality and within budget
  • Assist with project forecast with controls team
  • Field audit participation, communication with direct workforce 
  • Provide project updates to KDM Management 
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation
  • Conducting performance evaluations and providing feedback and professional guidance
  • Anticipating, Identifying and resolving issues as they arise
  • Ensure effective implementation of all Company and client policies and procedures including but not limited to labour relations, policies, visions, and ideas.
  • Key driver and participant in the overall safety practices of the organization. 
  • Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring while fostering the established culture of the organization.
  • Any other such duties as may be determined by your reporting manager.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and capabilities:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction management
  • Effective leader, good problem-solving skills, planning, organizing and priority setting skills combined with a strong work ethic
  • Ability to think critically and make independent decisions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent track record in safety management
  • Must be open and flexible to change, take initiative and be a team player
  • Intermediate computer knowledge
  • Pre-employment medical exam and drug test will be required.
