KDM Constructors is a construction and maintenance company created in partnership with three Saskatchewan First Nation Communities.  Our company is able to reinforce the trusted relationships individually built by each community to progress forward as a collective.

Position

Reporting to the Site Managers for KDM Constructors L.P. you will be responsible for coordinating field construction level activities additionally assisting the Site services superintendents with daily tasks.

This position will be based on a Monday to Friday shift schedule, 10 hours/day; however, the candidate must be willing to work overtime when needed and hours may change based on the client’s requirements.  

This position will be located at BHP Mine Site – Jansen, SK.  This is a camp-based position.  Jansen Discovery Lodge at BHP is a state-of-the-art camp that includes the following: full-service cafeteria, housekeeping, gym with a raised running track, library, and theatre.

Job Duties

  • Assist project team with operational support.
  • Collect field data in unit measures for quantity reporting and work with scheduler to update progress.
  • Prepare project reports and permitting alongside superintendents.
  • Create and maintain communication with colleagues and ownership group, building professional relationships.
  • Attend and participate in meetings as required per project requirements.
  • Work with vendors on collection and submission pricing and quotes.
  • Work with project controls regarding change management.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities provided by employer.
  • Support the quality program through participation in quality awareness sessions, specification and standard reviews and inspection of completed work as required.
  • Implements and maintains KDM systems and procedures through the project duration.
  • Prepare purchase order requisitions for approval and assist with procurement of materials and equipment.
  • Manages the review, distribution, and filing of contract documents in accordance with the established project document distribution matrix.
  • Supports the (sub)contract management process through the tendering, technical evaluation, and awarding of work or supply materials, assistance with the review and processing of invoices and progress claims, and assistance with the review of documents and inquiries.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in any discipline related to construction such as oil and gas, potash, or heavy civil industrial scope
  • EIT is an asset
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere
  • Knowledge in all construction disciplines an asset
  • Effective self-managing, good problem-solving skills, planning, organizing, and priority setting skills combined with a strong work ethic
  • Ability to think critically and make independent decisions
  • Strong communication skills, confident interaction with key contacts in verbal and written form
  • Strong computer background including experience with Microsoft Office and scheduling software and SAP
  • Experience with other construction planning and management software is an asset
  • Must be open and flexible to change, take initiative and be a team player
