Position
Reporting to the Controller, this hourly, part-time role will oversee a range of payroll responsibilities, ensuring accurate and timely processing of multiple payrolls.
The position will be located in either the Esterhazy or Yorkton, SK office.
Hours will be Monday to Thursday, 6 hours per day. Flexibility is required, as additional hours may be necessary, up to a maximum of 30 hours per week.
Job Duties
- Ensures the accurate and timely processing of weekly payroll, including auditing and importing timesheet data from multiple sites, balancing hours, and confirming appropriate approvals and controls are in place.
- Works collaboratively with site administrators on employee lifecycle administration, including new hires and terminations; maintains employee master files; processes employee status changes; calculates termination and vacation pay; and prepares Records of Employment.
- Administers employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, terminations, and reconciliation of benefit premiums
- Maintains vacation and leave balances, ensuring accurate tracking, accruals, and payouts in accordance with company policy and employment standards.
- Prepares monthly and annually reporting, reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Prepares, balances, and files source deductions, T4 and T4A; prepares government remittances, reports, and reconciliations for statutory deductions, payroll tax, and Labour Standards requests.
- Ensures strict confidentiality and compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable legislation
- Ensures the daily maintenance, integrity, and operations of the payroll system.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1-2 years’ related experience required.
- Post-secondary education in payroll administration, business administration, or a related field, and/or Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) certification (or actively working toward certification) is considered an asset.
- Comprehensive understanding of payroll legislation, employment standards and payroll accounting with experience or working knowledge of both union and non-union environments, and employee benefit programs.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel skills preferred
- Highly organized with excellent skills in time management and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with using computerized payroll systems
