The scope of work included daylighting buried utilities along the new pipe alignment, excavation and backfilling of drill entry and exit pits, excavation and coring at both ends of the new line and subsequent backfilling, directional drilling 1700 feet of 6” diameter HDPE sewer pipe with 175’ of 10” diameter steel casing below the rail lines. Directional drilling technology has evolved into a very safe construction method to accurately install long sections of pipe without disturbing the ground surface. It is especially useful with force-mains as elevation variances are acceptable, if obstructions, such as boulders are encountered.
