In 2017, KDM Constructors and CORE Industrial successfully completed the demolition of the former band office at Day Star First Nation. The project scope involved excavating a pit large enough to fit the building materials, demolishing the building using a JD225 Excavator, loading and hauling materials with 2 Tri-axle end dump trucks, and staging a D6 CAT at the excavated pit to push in and pack the demolished building. The excavated dirt from the refuse hole was then back hauled to fill in the crawl space of the building.
KDM was very proud to complete a project at one of our home communities and was once again able to engage the local workforce. Many of the workers on the project were from the surrounding area, as well as from Day Star itself. The project was completed safely, on budget, and under the scheduled time.
