Position

Reporting to the Information Technology Lead Technician, and Controller, you will be responsible for Supporting the IT Department in delivering reliable, secure, and efficient IT services to SECON users.

The Junior IT Technician will be the first line of support for routine technical issues, user onboarding, and device setups, while acting as a bridge between management and IT for ongoing projects.

Hours: This position will be full-time, 40 hours per week.
Schedule: On-site in Esterhazy office Monday to Thursday, 7 hours per day, 7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
The remaining hours will be completed remotely, through site travel, and/or after-hours work as required.
Travel: Travel will be required to site locations.

Job Duties

Microsoft 365 User Setup and Maintenance

  • Create, configure, and manage user accounts in Microsoft 365 (including assigning licenses, setting permissions, and onboarding/offboarding users).
  • Reset passwords, troubleshoot login issues, and maintain user access security.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies for user management and data protection.

Hardware & Device Setup

  • Prepare, configure, and deploy laptops and other end-user devices for new and existing staff.
  • Install required software, apply updates, and ensure devices meet company standards for security and usability.
  • Including external hardware and accessories such as printers, cell phones, Starlink, monitors, keyboards, mice, etc., 

Software and Network Maintenance

  • Troubleshoot operating systems, business applications, and network connectivity problems; assist with software installations and updates.
  • Perform routine checks, run backups, update security software (like antivirus), and monitor system performance. 

Routine IT Support (Helpdesk)

  • Respond to and resolve routine IT support tickets via phone, email, or in person. 
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network problems; escalate complex issues to IT Lead as required. 
  • Document support requests and solutions in the ticketing system for future reference.

Project Coordination

  • Act as a liaison between management and IT, communicating project updates, requirements, and feedback.
  • Assist with IT-related projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and new technology rollouts under the direction of the Lead Technician.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to process improvements.

Asset & Inventory Management

  • Track and manage IT assets (laptops, peripherals, licenses) and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Support procurement and disposal processes for IT equipment.

Security & Compliance

  • Ensure devices and user accounts comply with company security policies (e.g., antivirus, updates, password policies).
  • Report potential security incidents or vulnerabilities to the Lead Technician.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have: 

  • A Valid Driver’s License
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Eagerness to learn and stay updated on IT trends
  • Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, macOS), business applications, and basic networking concepts
  • Certificate or diploma in Computer Science, IT, or related field preferred or minimum one-year of related experience
