KDM Constructors is a construction and maintenance company created in partnership with three Saskatchewan First Nation Communities. Our company is able to reinforce the trusted relationships individually built by each community to progress forward as a collective. 

The Indigenous Business Relations Coordinator reports directly to the Operations Manager of KDM Constructors collaborating with our project teams, upholding corporate initiatives, and building relations with Indigenous communities. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the initiatives, projects, and policy tracking/reporting to ensure KDM’s Indigenous Engagement Policy is effectively implemented.

This position will be located at BHP Mine Site – Jansen, SK.  Travel will be required to participate in career and job fairs. This is a camp-based position.  Jansen Discovery Lodge at BHP is a state-of-the-art camp that includes the following: full-service cafeteria, housekeeping, gym with a raised running track, library, and theatre.

Job Description

  • Support implementation of the KDM Constructors Indigenous Engagement Policy. 
  • Provide support with activities related to the coaching and mentoring of the Operations and Management Team on protocols and cultural related matters.
  • Support the activities and initiatives which develop relationships that lead to improving Indigenous training and employment.
  • Support programs related to Indigenous employment training and community investment criteria development.
  • Support Indigenous Business Relations Lead and partner communities with grant application and administration for project development.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships.
  • Maintain records and logs to support Operations with Indigenous engagement plans.
  • Attend applicable events such as career fairs, job fairs and conferences on behalf of KDM and report trends and information.
  • Support Indigenous Business Relations Lead with initiatives, such as participation in work groups with the goal of involving and growing Indigenous employment and training.
  • Develop presentations and support community information sessions related to KDM’s involvement in communities as a result of upcoming or current projects.
  • Administer the tracking and reporting related to project goals for Indigenous participation based on the KDM’s Indigenous Engagement Policy metrics, Client requirements and CCIB reporting requirements.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required, diploma in Office Administration is an asset.
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced Construction Industry and work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills are required, verbal and written.
  • Excellent Microsoft Word and Excel experience are required.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety rules, instructions, and policies.
  • Must demonstrate the following personal attributes; honest and trustworthy, respectful, flexible, and have sound work ethics.
  • Experience working in a construction field would be an asset.
